The General Directorate of Information Systems (GDIS) was established primarily to support research and developmental activities in Saudi Arabia by providing information services to the science and technology community in the Kingdom. It works in full harmony with KACST mission, utilizes modern IT equipment, facilities and resources and works, and maintains close relationship with national and international organizations of similar interests.

GDIS endevours to attain its goals through facilitating access to national and international information resources, ensuring smooth functionality and full utilization of communication channels between information sources and users, and ensuring availability, as far as possible, of all published literature in the area of science and technology users in the Kingdom.
